RPGTube will be soon getting a makeover
Get ready for the new release of RPGTube.app, now with a YouTube-like interface as originally promised!
The original release of RPGTube.app was a bit of a flop, it released too fast, and barely had any features to speak of! Well, that changes soon with this highly anticipated release, made possible by Zope.
The original idea was to build it out as a full single page web application, and perhaps even use a REST API backend to handle all of the data models from the database. However, this has unfortunately proved to be too much of a task for me at the moment, and since I've been jumping back into Zope, I thought I'd give it a shot to modernize the current web application.
The theme itself was built using an AI prompt, and I just connected in all the needed Zope Page Template logic to make it dynamic. This includes several different objects other than a Page Template of course, it also includes a database connection, along with several Z SQL Methods. There are also a few Python scripts involved in some of the processing. What it has turned into now, looks and feel almost right. The comments section isn't yet hooked into anything, and there is no way to submit a game by a game developer, but this feature will be added in the near future. The first release will also have a fully working Blog, and Video Tutorials talking about various game engines, and how to do some tasks in them.
If you like to preview the newer slick interface, check out this link here: Modern RPGTube.
I hope to have the Blog and Tutorials sections coded in within the next couple of days, or even this evening perhaps. Then I guess if I actually wanted to create any Video Tutorials, I'll need to grab another good microphone again, as my current one is miles way, and I can't exactly use it right now.
Please note that if you are reading this News article after the release, the second link will no longer function, and the first link to RPGTube itself will be the only one, and will have the new modern interface released.
