WebQVFS

A rather interesting project where I built a client-side virtual file system, and a JavaScript engine to drive it.

Developed Using: pas2js

Project not currently Active or being Developed

After going homeless awhile back, many of my domain names I have purchased, including this IAmKevin.CA expired.  I created a website, or rather web application through Puter as a way to still have a website up and running without my custom domain name.  This website here is a remanent of that.  Since static web hosting through Puter does not include much in terms of full server-side development, this project was built entirely as a web-based application instead, but using some of my passion for server-side development.

This website runs what I called a virtual file system, which is a small database of meta-data which the web application either has directly embedded into it, or is loaded externally upon the website loading.  This virtual file system has many neat capabilities, such as a full file system tree, file types, and a small amount of internal data storage relating to this file type.

I will be creating various documents on this Project page here which will explain a lot of how this works, as this project was really exciting for me to create, and it's source code has never been publicly made.  It was a really fun experiment to create when I didn't have access to traditional server-side web programming as I do now.
